Called the most significant, closed back headphone from Sennheiser by both the casual listener and neighborhood friendly DJ, the popular Sennheiser HD 280 PRO is now getting a few design enhancements.

Sennheiser HD 280 PRO is touted as a great affordable headphone that delivers both natural, detailed, and accurate audio but unfortunately features a bit of a bulky fit. That being said, the German headphone company recognized this and worked to fine tune the aesthetics while leaving the audio alone. As the Portfolio Manager of Live Performance & Music at Sennheiser said, “The closed, circumaural HD 280 PRO headphones enjoy an excellent reputation for any monitoring application. We have now given them a careful design update while fully preserving their much praised audio properties.”

The first of noticeable enhancements on the HD 280 PRO would be the headband. It has now been optimized to alleviate pressure from the fontanelle part of your head. Also, the extenders can be adjusted between more than a dozen increments while the soft ear cups have the ability to swivel and rotate.

Specs-wise the HD 280 PROs have a total harmonic distortion of 0.1% and a very detailed, linear reproduction, spanning a frequency response of 8 to 25,000 kHz. Their impedance of 64 ohms ensures universal connectivity. The headphones feature a single-sided, coiled cable with 3.5 mm/6.3 mm plug.

The Sennheiser HD 280 PROs will be showing at the AES Convention in Los Angeles, CA located at Booth No. 411, and in Demo Room 503. No release dates have been announced as of yet, but the former edition is available for purchase at the Sennheiser Shop here for $99.
