Something in between
As the title of my review suggests the Abyss Diana TC falls in between the Abyss Diana V2 & the Abyss Diana 1266 TC. I have owned both headphones. I found the Abyss 1266 TC fantastic in sound quality except in the midrange where I felt the midrange could get a little shouty sometimes. In addition, the Abyss 1266 TC had an enormous sound stage. The Abyss Diana V2 for me had a very nice midrange but perhaps just a bit too neutral at times. Imaging was very good but sound stage was tiny in comparison the 1266 TC. Also, bass impact was light weight compared to the 1266 TC. Now on to the new kid on the block. The Diana TC. Well, the Diana TC is for all intents and purposes an easier to live with 1266 TC both in size, cosmetic looks, and smoother midrange. It does not have the bass of the 1266 TC even though it supposed to have the same drivers (perhaps because of the cup size), but its bass is quite good with good articulation and overall attack. It does not have the subterranean bass that the 1266 TC has but still very excellent bass. The Diana TC compared to the Diana V2 brings you a larger soundstage with very good imaging. Bass is slightly more fleshed out and articulate compared to the V2. I don’t have the two to compare side by side, but I remember that the imaging on the V2 was slightly better outlined. This could be an effect of the smaller size soundstage of the V2. Layering and depth of sound stage are similar in both. I've loved features of both the Abyss 1266 TC and Diana V2. But it was not enough to keep either headphone in my arsenal. If you like the Abyss sound signature, I will say this is the best Abyss Headphone both in physical size, cost to your wallet and technical audio qualities. The Diana TC slotted in the middle between the other two headphones both in price and technical abilities has earned a spot for permanent residence on my headphone stand.
