Excellent performance, detailed, beautiful quality cable
This is a beautiful cable that compares well in sonic performance and detail to competitors. It's lively and engaging on its own merits. At first playing, it had a kind of noticeable engaging magic. In comparison testing it was the best of cables I tried (Audioquest “Evergreen” 1meter and a Cardas "HPI Audio” 10cm). The sound of the ddHiFi was decidedly better (detectably better than the Audioquest, significantly better than the Cardas) - much more engaging, open and energetic. The ddHiFi BC35B allowed the music to sound more open, transparent, detailed and lifelike. It rendered richer and more precise details and energy in cymbals, gongs, kick drums and other forms of percussion. The midrange was well supported and the full spectrum was more enjoyable than with the other cables. Ultra fine nuances and details were rendered well and that helped create the sense of reality and transparency. Nothing was over or under emphasised. Listening to jazz, the sax and piano were rich with detail and life. By comparison the level of detail of the Audoquest was just a notch less detailed and the sound fractionally recessed, but the sense of engagement was noticeably less than the ddHiFi. The Cardas felt dull and flat - like the life in the music was being suppressed. The listening experiences between these three cables were not orders of magnitude different from each other. The greatest differences will be noticed in listening to subtle and detail-rich acoustic music like jazz, classical, and vocals where little nuances need to emerge. Don't expect your system to be transformed by this cable. These are subtle differences, and any "weak link" in your existing system might negate the positive effects of this cable. However, if you have great IEMs, high fidelity source files, a great DAC and a clean headphone amp, the ddHiFi BC35B will be a good clean option. I feel I can count on it to perform well and not limit or restrict my system or the music. I'm certain this won't be a "weak link" and I can count on it as my best 3.5 cable. I've now purchased several different ddHiFi cables. For whatever reason I was initially skeptical of them as a brand. Now, with a track record of excellent listening experiences and seeing consistently high build quality, I plan to try more ddHiFi products and feel comfortable recommending them as a strong option. In addition to being a great cable that performs well I consider it to be a good value. For reference my listening tests were via ECM recordings on Qobuz streaming into a Cayin RU7 feeding a Ray Samuels Hornet amp, and driving Final Audio A8000 IEMs.
