For just $120, it’s one of the most affordable in Noble Audio’s line. But how does it sound? Does it live up to the Noble Audio name? Driver Housing

The driver housings of the Noble Audio EDC Velvet earphones are small and compact. They’re light and made of machined aluminum, providing durability. They fit in the ears easily and have a mature and rugged look to them.

Cable

The first thing I noticed about the cable of the Noble Audio EDC Velvet was its grippy texture. And while this texture makes the cable a little easier to tangle, it also provides strength. It is made of a Vectron fiber weave which is spun from a liquid-crystal polymer. This is known for its thermal stability and high strength. In addition to its material, strain reliefs at the base of the earpieces contribute to its durability.

Low Frequencies

The low frequencies of the Noble Audio EDC Velvet earphones feel full and round. They seem even for the most part but it a slight accented sub frequency region. Additionally, they have a good sense of extension. Overall, they have a warm and smooth character

Middle Frequencies

The middle frequencies of the Noble Audio EDC Velvet feel smooth and even. These frequencies feel thick, yet maintain clarity. However, they start to mellow out as the frequency response reaches the very top of the high-mids. Therefore, the sense of clarity doesn’t necessarily imply midrange separation. In reality, he midrange and high mids blend a bit, but this blending feels less like cloudiness and more like an aesthetic sense of warmth.

High Frequencies

The high frequencies of the Noble Audio EDC Velvet are mellow and modest, but feel even overall. Therefore, the highs have a natural tonality and represent high frequency rich instruments truthfully, albeit quieter than they might otherwise.

Soundstage

The sense of height of the Noble Audio EDC Velvet goes deep down low but because of the high frequency darkness, they’re not super tall height-wise. Additionally, the sense of width feels a little cloudy unless things are precisely hard panned. Lastly, the sense of depth isn’t particularly deep although represents reverbs and room mics well. In other words, if the mix emphasizes the depth using that technique it comes through well

Overall, the Noble Audio EDC Velvet earphones are nice and even with a mellow, dark sound signature. They sound great with rock and pop, although if your music needs lots of separation or bright clarity, these won’t be the ones for you.
