The true wireless earphone world is still relatively new and unsaturated, and only a select number of headphone companies have emerged as heavy hitters. Most of the world's best models are priced a little under 300 bucks. So, our reviewers and sales associates have huddled together to come up with a short list of our favorites under $300 in 2022. Here’s the verdict:
Final Audio ZE3000
Price: $149
Those who are familiar with Final Audio will recognize their tight, fast and sparkly sound signature in these earbuds. In terms of separation, detail and overall clarity, the ZE3000 certainly lives up to Final’s name. In fact, these earphones are the closest to audiophile-grade wireless earbuds that I have found at this price point. Perhaps the only reason the ZE3000 are so affordable is because they are missing some bells and whistles, like ANC functionality. But once the music is playing, you might find that there is no need for ANC, since in-ear headphones tend to have great natural sound isolation. So, if you’re on a tight budget but you require high-end sound, the ZE3000 should be your go-to.

Bowers & Wilkins PI5
Price: $249
In the under $300 price range, Bowers & Wilkins has produced the PI5. With the ANC turned on, the PI5 offers a thick and meaty sound profile that seems to diverge a little from the Company’s traditionally restrained headphone sound signature. These bass-favoring earbuds work great for pop, hip-hop and other genres that favor a big low-end. The ANC is impressively effective in loud environments, and I especially appreciate the accompanying app that offers Soundscapes for when you just want to listen to the ocean or a crackling fire in high definition. (Our office hours are long). The PI5 is a great buy for those looking to experience a high-end brand at a reasonable price.

Sony WF-1000XM4
Price: $249
In the past, some audio lovers may have poo-pooed Sony’s wireless earphones, given their prominent and often muddy bass. But the XM4 is a nice surprise. You’ll still enjoy the warmth and punch of Sony's low-end but without the mess that a thick bass can produce. This combined with clear and detailed higher frequencies makes the XM4 a very pleasurable listen. Of course, you can’t beat Sony’s ANC either. And factoring in the XM4’s accompanying app, which offers a host of features (including extensive EQ functionality), it may be the reason why the WF-1000XM4 is the best seller on the market.

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3
Price: $249
The Momentum line has been around for a long time for good reason. No other brand can imitate its warm, yet highly detailed and natural sound signature. And these qualities have stayed true even through the development of their wireless earphone line. In fact, many audiophiles would argue that Sennhesier produces the best wireless sound on the market. The Momentum 3 may not have the EQ functionality of the Sony WF-1000XM5, but it doesn’t need it; Sennheiser’s engineers have perfected the sound and they don’t want you to fiddle with it.
