The JVC HA-M55X Xtreme Xplosives are a solid under $50 option for anyone who enjoys a good amount of bass in your music. With the increasing popularity of celebrity endorsed high ticket headphones, it’s become apparent consumers generally like enhanced bass. JVC makes a move to gain some of that market back from brands like Beats By Dre and SMS by 50. The JVC HA-M55X Xtreme Xplosives feature a durable plastic body and plush super comfortable ear cushions and headband cushion.
Product Features
With a MASSIVE 50mm driver the JVC HA-M55X Xtreme Xplosives are highly recommended for those looking for a real kick to their music. They have a reasonably wide frequency range of 8-hz-23,000hz which is actually about 100% more sensitive in the low end than most headphones on the market today. Generally they cut off at about 20hz where as the JVC HA-M55X go all the way down to 8hz!
The JVC HA-M55X’s are intentionally built kinda large and really tough with lots of reinforced plastic and rubber holding these rather large headphones together. With a sleek and fashion forward design the JVC HA-M55X Xtreme Xplosives are a great addition to any fashion headphone collection as well as the collection of an everyday listener. Although these headphones are made mostly of plastic and rubber, they don’t suffer from the same inherently cheap feeling of the Beats By Dre Solo headphones, which are prone to breaks at the joints and points where screws are. They may be plastic but that’s exactly what you want them to be when you plan to give them a beating. One thing that JVC could learn from Beats By Dre is that extras CAN make the headphones. In future releases we’d like to see these headphones include some extras such as a carrying case, the ability to fold and perhaps even change the cables should it die.
The JVC HA-M55X Xtreme Xplosives feature a 4ft long Y-cable with a nice rubber isolation and semi-circle design that keeps the cables tangle free and manageable. Their plush ear cushions are made of a super-soft “pleather” like maternal that keeps you much cooler after hours of use than a real leather would. With comfort and ease of use being paramount, the JVC HA-M55X Xtreme Xplosives are a great option for those looking for headphones for a long commute or trip.
Conclusion
If we had a star rating system…these would get a 4. They may not be the best headphones I have ever tried, but they are 100% among the best I have tried that are valued less than $100. With headphones it all depends on what you are looking for. If you like lots of low end, lots of bass and a heavy kick to your music, the JVC HA-M55X Xtreme Xplosives are the pair of cans for you. If you are someone seeking balance and true sound staging…why the hell did you read this far? That being said, if you’re looking to pick up a pair of JVC HA-M55X Xtreme Xplosives be sure to do so form the link below! If you see a lower advertised price for these be sure to let us know!
