After the acclaim of its Momentum 2 true wireless earbuds, it was only a matter of time before Sennheiser released a follow-up. The Momentum 3 True Wireless is Sennheiser's latest flagship wireless earbud. Sennheiser is known for delivering some of the best sound quality in the consumer audio market and I'm excited to get my hands on these.

Look and Feel
One thing Sennheiser is fantastic with is establishing a clear aesthetic vision with their products. Momentum 3 looks great, from its tasteful and well-constructed case to its sleek box-shaped design. Though they may not look it, the earbuds themselves are incredibly ergonomic; I had no trouble with comfort while using them, even after long periods. Sennheiser outdid both themselves and several other brands in this area.
Design
Like its predecessor, the Momentum 3 uses Sennheiser's 7mm TrueResponse driver, which they say ensures smooth bass response and minimal distortion. The housing itself is IPX4 Splash resistant and is meant to be durable under several listening situations. At full charge, the Momentum 3 has a battery life of 28 hours, with the buds being able to handle 7 hours outside of the charging case. Many internal features are also controlled through Sennheiser's Smart Control app.
The Sennheiser Momentum 3 True Wireless has a frequency response of 5 Hz – 21 kHz
Bluetooth and Smart Control
Sennheiser's Bluetooth Parent app, Sennheiser Smart Control, makes a return for the Momentum 3. The Momentum 3 supports Bluetooth 5.2 and has several available codecs that you can choose in-app. The touch controls are highly responsive and very customizable. The app also features a custom 3-Band EQ, which I found underwhelming compared to some other in-app EQs. Momentum 3 has impressive Adaptive Noise Cancellation, with the addition of Sound Zones, which allow you to automate noise cancellation settings based on your location, which is incredibly useful. Overall, Smart Control is essential to get the full Momentum experience.
Soundstage
One thing I always expect from Sennheiser is a high-quality Soundstage. The Momentum 3 delivers on that front. It has a nice balance between its width, depth, and dynamics that create a shockingly natural soundstage not often found on Bluetooth earbuds. One thing that assists greatly is the superb noise cancellation, which puts you in an isolated and immersive space when active. The dynamics are great, though I did feel like I needed to crank these somewhat to hit a good volume.
Lows
I love the bass on the Momentum 3. It's present, impactful, yet also considerate of the other ranges. Most true wireless earbuds have a frequency response that cuts off around 20 Hz, but the Momentum 3 goes down to 5 Hz, which makes the subs powerful and tangible. The bass response is clear and incredibly powerful.
Mids
The mids received some treatment to hit that Consumer-Ready shine. While this isn't a bad thing and enhances the Momentum in many ways, it does diminish some parts of the frequency range at times. This serves many songs very well, but also creates a gap near the highs that can run thin at times. This is hardly noticeable though, and the mids do a great job with detail retention and adding impact to elements like leads and snares. Moreover, the mids never felt artificially manipulated and had an insane amount of detail for a TW earbud.
Highs
The highs on the Momentum 3 are beautifully detailed. The reverb tails are crisp and spacious, giving the soundstage a nice open feel. Attacks have a nice snap about them and I never found them harsh. They are tailored to be more of a background element, but that can also be resolved with the EQ settings. I found the Highs incredibly smooth and tied together with the sound character in a pleasant manner.
Overall
Today's True Wireless Earbud market can be an oversaturated nightmare at times, but sometimes something really special shines through. The Momentum 3 is one of those special cases. Sennheiser outdid themselves with these earbuds; everything from the external design to the overall sound had a sense of purpose and unity to it that made this one of the best True Wireless Earbuds I've ever tried. They're by no means perfect, but they are still an amazing option for anybody looking for a seamless pair of earbuds that will outperform their competitors. I would highly recommend it.
