Open Back Earbuds Marches On
The same flat response with richer and more dynamic bass. The same natural, spatial soundstage with even more precise, earthy details compared to earlier model. It’s for someone who want to hear what sound engineers’ true intent in every note.
It took us 2 years to challenge and surpass our last endeavor --- "the liebeslied" and define this new limit for hi-end open back earbuds in terms of accurate playback and luxurious style.
She is our answer for flagship earbuds with untiring passion and uncompromised materials.
This open back earbud was named after "Johann Sebastian Bach's Partita for Violin No. 2", “Chaconne” for a poetic sense, and to remark its unique significance in our product line.
Luxurious Material, In A Practical Way
High performance external magnetic transducer with Liquid Crystal Polymer & polyurethane diaphragm, TC4 titanium alloy milled housing combined with gold plated brass faceplate, 24AWG Coaxial OCC copper Litz cable with Silver Plated copper shield. These material sounds exaggerated but all in accord with our primal reasoning: improve performance of sound system in a practical way for better sound.
TC4 Titanium Alloy Housing
Chaconne's housing consists of TC4 titanium alloy which is luxuriously expensive in both materials and processing. Titanium alloy greatly consume the lifespan of CNC cutters, this task is made more arduous by chaconne's convoluted structures and an extra step of mirror finishing. But at last, overcoming difficulties and cost issues, we 've made this dream earbud into reality.
Gold Plated Brass Faceplate
Brass has many charming acoustical properties, even though CHACONNE's housing was titanium alloy, but still carried brass faceplate along from Liebesleid. These little caps were gold plated after polished, so they have a charming sheen and coloring. We carefully redesigned the arrangement of holes on faceplate and milled them with precision milling to ensure they preserve their legendary high frequency performance. On the other hand, brass has a much higher density compared to titanium alloys, so when they are assembled together, they stay in your ears without instability caused by gravity.
Liquid crystal polymer (LCP) & polyurethane composite diaphragm
CHACONNE's diaphragm is constructed by Liquid Crystal Polymer in both dome and cone area. LCP has both high rigidity and lightweight characteristic and is widely used in artificial satellites and jet engines. LCP grans CHACONNE better treble extension and richer mid density. Suspension part consist of ultra thin soft polyutherane to allow CHACONNE achieve an eigenfrequency of 120hz, which means a rich and deep bass response.
High Performance Outer Magnet Architecture
CHACONNE's outer magnet structure was inherited from Liebesleid and commonly found in speaker systems. Though bulky in size, but endues a much more linear and sense magnetic field for the coil. This design reduces non linear distortion and give CHACONNE powerful dynamics.
Standing Wave Resistant Inner chamber
CHACONNE's inner chamber is covered by special flocking material to absorb soundwave from the back of the driver and transfer them to heat, greatly reducing sound reflection inside the housing.
This designed was carried all along from the earliest VX models, the material used change from latex to non-woven cloth, now to flocking, the resistance to standing wave increases gradually to prevent extra reflection in the unit causing distortion.
Hybrid Damping Balance System
On top of the housing colume control, CHACONNE's housing has multiple dampers built at critical air movement locations and adjusted to equilibrium to let the overall damping of system leaning to balance. Limiting diaphragm vibration at low linear distortion range.
Dust Proof Measures
CHACONNE's venting on front cap is designed to benefit treble extension, but leaving the housing prone to dust and It's even possible to let metal particles dragged in by magnet and ending up damaging diaphragm.
We designed a dust proof web on back side of the front cap and fasten it with three circular rings.
(We still recommend to use foam on them for daily use)
CHACONNE's cable was specifically developed 24awg coaxial OCC wire. the negative terminal is 4N litz OFC acting as a shield at the same time. This cable has ultra low parasitic capacitance, beneficial for pure signal transmission.
