It's a sentimental thing—MOONDROP's release of a portable CD player in 2023.

MOONDROP has never lost sight of its original goal of pursuing ultimate product performance through constant experimentation and development. A profound love of music motivated the founder of MOONDROP to establish the company, and developing a portable CD player with excellent sound quality has always been one of his dreams.

It's not easy to make a portable CD player with good sound quality. The portable CD players of today don't meet the requirements of music lovers for superior performance in power and sound reproduction. What's more, the classic CD players of yesteryear are aging fast, and it's now difficult to find one in perfect condition. Create a new one? It's not easy to find suitable chips and optical assemblies in the market, and ODM manufacturers provide poor performance solutions.

In mid-2022, a veteran audiophile joined the MOONDROP R&D department, an engineer who not only loved music but had also worked on Discman R&D. With his arrival the portable CD player project finally took off.

The development of a brand-new hi-fi portable CD player is full of challenges. Past solutions are no longer relevant, and no ready-made architecture is available. What remains are countless difficulties and challenges in development, all needing to be overcome.

The exterior look of the DISCDREAM, however, expresses modern minimalism, while at the same time adopting retro aluminum flanging and cladding to highlight fine details.
