Hi-Res Circumaural Closed-Back Stereo Headphones

Sony Z7 M2

Audiophile Headphones

High-Resolution Audio logo

Enjoy premium sound with High-Resolution Audio

Take your digital music collection to another level with High-Resolution Audio. By digitally capturing music at a higher rate than CD, High-Resolution Audio allows you to get closer to the original studio recording and enjoy your music just as the artist intended.

An audio experience you won't want to leave

Lose yourself in the music you love, enjoying enhanced sound quality and hours of listening comfort. The MDR-Z7M2 provides elegant audio reproduction from highs to lows with 2.76" HD drivers, aluminum-coated Liquid Crystal Polymer diaphragms, a Fibonacci-patterned grill and a larger magnet that's twice the volume of the magnet used in its predecessor. The result is the reproduction of a three dimensional, spatial sound experience existing in live atmosphere.

2.76" HD driver units deliver wide, spacious sound

Newly developed HD driver units with a large diameter of 2.76" are designed to cover your ears and produce a plane wave front similar to that in a natural sound field, and reproduce frequencies from 4Hz to 100kHz. Every note stays clear across a spacious sound stage, preserving the emotion and energy of the original recording with true vocal clarity and precise bass response.

Evolving the sound of the Signature Series

Our MDR-Z1R headphones remain the choice of audio enthusiasts, and now its key technologies are more accessible in the new MDR-Z7M2. Premium sound for an audio experience you can lose yourself in for hours.

Comparison graph of frequencies

Smoother high-frequency response

Inherited from the MDR-Z1R, the MDR-Z7M2 has a Fibonacci-patterned grill that smoothly reproduces the intended sound properties—a particular challenge with ultra-high frequencies.

Fibonacci-patterned grill

Fibonacci-patterned grill

Made of solid resin with thinner frames, the Fibonacci-patterned grill achieves both strength and thinness to minimize sound damping from the grill at ultra high frequencies.

Aluminum-coated LCP diaphragm

An aluminum-coated LCP diaphragm

The dome of the diaphragm has been upsized and its profile has been optimized, which enables clear sound at mid-low range and brilliant sound at mid-high range. Combining aluminum and LCP, material-specific resonance is canceled and delivers natural sound with low coloration.

Dynamic Neodymium Magnet

Approx. 200% bigger Dynamic Neodymium Magnet

With a newly developed, bigger magnet that's double the volume of the MDR-Z7, the MDR-Z7M2 establishes more driving power and a fast response to high resolution signals, which results in sharp clarity of sound.

Lose yourself in the world of high-quality audio

Stay connected to premium sound with a 0.17" balanced connection cable and silver-coated oxygen-free copper cables—they're all in the box.

0.17" balanced cable connection chart

0.17" balanced cable connection

Enjoy clear, precise, and dynamic sound with a 0.17" balanced connection cable, which separates left and right sound signals while minimizing signal transmission loss and resulting sound deterioration.

Silver-coated OFC cable

Silver-coated oxygen-free copper cable

Silver-coated oxygen-free copper cables minimize resistance and signal-transmission loss. The result is less sound degradation, finer detail, and smoother treble sounds.

Ergonomic earpads

A combination of three-dimensionally sewn synthetic leather surfaces and very thick, low-repulsion urethane foam cushion ensures an ergonomic shape designed to fit the unevenness of the head, applying even pressure across the area. By increasing air-tightness, sound leakage is reduced and sound optimized with heavy powerful bass.

Aluminum-alloyed hanger and slider

Aluminum-alloyed hanger and slider

Aluminum alloy is used for the hangers and sliders which form the backbone of the headphones. These guarantee both lightweight and long lasting durability over the years.

A man relaxing in the comfortable earpads of the MDR-M7M2

Comfortable earpad materials

Soft urethane foam cushion with moisture-absorbing and releasing characteristics were chosen for the surface of the earpads to reduce the feeling of stuffiness and provide a comfortable extended listening experience.
