At first glance, the Audio Technica ATH-M60X may seem unremarkable, if not boring. But the M60X is actually as fun as it is detailed. The bass impact is clean and precise, avoiding bloat or excessive presence. The midrange is slightly forward, presenting a clean profile with exceptional resolution. The highs are impressively resolving with slightly rolled-off treble peaks, providing ample detail without being overly harsh. This no sonic frills approach appeals to serious professionals or critical listeners. At the same time, the ATH-M60X delivers an outstanding soundstage with excellent depth and placement, offering a roomier and more immersive experience than what you’d expect at this price point. And these elements alone make for an entertaining listen. So, if the M50X feels too V-shaped for you, give the M60X a try.
