The TH808 is a premium headphone crafted from Fostex's top-tier open-type model, TH909. It is meticulously tuned and features a high-grade black walnut solid wood housing with aluminum etched parts and is equipped with a proprietary technology in-house made “BIODYNA” diaphragm driver unit. Each unit undergoes careful assembly at our facility in Japan.

Almost 5/5.. requires modding.
This is one of these headphones, just like the TH900 and TH909, which requires an earpad change in order to sound much better. Also, recommended amp/dac to pair is something like hifiman EF600\Aune S9C\Xduoo ta-22. preferably stay away from very lean/bright amps like thx/smsl. In the opinion of many, including mine, Fostex headphones are always 10 % to 20 % better after pad swapping. Honestly, at this price point, it should come with different earpads and cable. I have found two pads that works really well : Dekoni Gel Pads for Beyerdynamic Dekoni Platinum Pleather pads for Beyerdynamic Currently I am using DYI leather Earpads. Stock pads : The bass extends well into the 50hz region but drops significantly below. In such a case for instance, the TH900 is more impactful. the bass sound linear.. kind of like a studio headphone, but it is impactful, just not as much as it's closed back version (Driver wise) The midrange and highs shine here and are very engaging. the treble if upfront but not as piercing as the TH900. It is excited to show you everything. cymbals and drums are always represented really well. technically, these headphones, as well as the TH909, have great imaging capabilities, a medium-sized stage. more soundstage than...LCD X (2021) and focal headphones, but less than hifiman he100se, Arya and hd800s ----- These are one of the most Fun and Energetic headphones money can buy - after Pad swapping to the Dekoni Platinum Pleather pads for Beyerdynamic The Bass increases by a lot. you get a much warmer sound and the mids/high stay the same.
