Audio46's Opinion

The Arya Organic is the fourth edition of the open-back planar HiFiMAN Arya headphone. HiFiMAN delighted listeners with the Arya V3's inclusion of stealth magnets back in 2021. The 2023 edition of the Arya features stealth magnets as well as a new driver diaphragm that is a single nanometer thick. This diaphragm borrows its design principle from the company's legendary flagship open-back headphone, the HiFiMAN Susvara. The Arya Organic finds welcome improvements over previous editions of the Arya: a more intimate and accurate soundstage, faster performance with a sharper note attack, refined treble performance, and a more durable and fortified build with its inclusion of wooden materials. HiFiMAN has officially finessed one of their most popular models to date.

Stealth Magnets Design
Nanometer Thickness Diaphragm

HIFIMAN Arya Organic Planar Magnetic Headphones Overview Photograph

Nanometer Thickness Diaphragm

A breakthrough core technology developed by HIFIMAN and first of its kind in headphone application. Working with this advanced material is extremely challenging yet the successful incorporation of this film as the HE1000se's planar driver is the cornerstone of its remarkable sound.

Acoustically Invisible Stealth Magnet

Unlike the sound waves created by a conventional magnet, the special shape of Stealth Magnets enables the waves to pass through the magnets without generating interference.

HIFIMAN's advanced magnet design is acoustically transparent, dramatically reducing wave diffraction turbulence that degrades the integrity of the sound waves. The reduced distortion yields pure sonic output that is accurate and full-range.

Patented "Window Shade" System: Created to meet the need for driver protection and an optimized open-back design

Craftsmanship: The metal structure is created via CNC milling and hand polishing. To meet the critical standard set out by HIFIMAN, the surface finishing is handled and refined by meticulous craftsmen.

The Headband: Ergonomic and comfortable headband design for most people, with greater reliability and durability

Asymmetrical Earcups: Follows the natural shape of the human ear.

Sturdy 3.5mm User-replaceable Connector Design: Allows easy cable swapping, giving both maximum durability and enhanced customizability.

Cables: The Arya keeps things simple with a single Crystalline Copper cable. Featuring a 6.35mm plug and a jet black woven exterior finish it's the perfect complement to the sound and sight of the Arya.

Extremely Good Headphones with One Caveat

For reference, I currently own the Focal Elex and owned and used the LCD-X for quite a while before accidentally ruining them about 9 months ago. Amp is Burson Soloist 3XP with everything balanced. My last experience with Hifiman was quite a few years ago with the HE-560 - a headphone I was NOT impressed with. While the stage was fairly large, the imaging was not good, and the mids sounded very cold, thin and bright. I quickly moved on to something else at the time. Forward to today, I heard good things about the Arya Organic as I was shopping for a new headphone. I avoided previous iterations of the Arya due to timbre issues and other concerns about weak bass and dynamics. Audio46 has a great return policy so I decided I would finally try the Arya Organic and if I didn't like it I could easily return it. I am not returning it. The stage is large and you can really hear it on good recordings which are layered well. I do listen to other genres, but my main ones are rock and metal, and I was afraid the large stage could lower impact of the music, but I am glad to report that it does not. The headphone sounds large when the recording is large, but can still sound intimate enough to have really good impact and dynamics with genres or recordings without lots of layering (like a lot of rock/metal tends to be). The mids are warm and full. I would say they are a touch less full than either the LCD-X or Elex, but not my much at all. I was very surprised by this. Gone was the coldness I remember from my HE-560. The bass is also tight and impactful - once again perhaps just a touch less impactful than either LCD-X or Elex - but it is quite close. Quality and extension of the bass are truly excellent. I can rock out with good dynamics when I want, and then put on some jazz and hear the wonderful layered soundscape. The caveat I mentioned about the Arya Organic is that the treble/highs are definitely bright - the area above 6k where cymbals and such reside. I personally love bright treble but I know a lot of people don't, so they would either have to use EQ or simply avoid the headphone altogether. While the highs are bright, the upper mids are not bright (like most Grados are). I was very happy to hear this as I like mid-to-upper mids to be in the vicinity of neutral. These headphones are. The Arya Organic will remain in my small headphone collection for quite a while - it really is that good.

The full experience

Audio46 sent this very well packaged in a discrete box and has excellent customer service and communication as I first time customer to them. These headphones are the first I’ve bought in this price range and I couldn’t be more happy pairing it with my old ifi v1 stack and the new schiit 2/64 and lyr+ Sound was very nice on both stacks with the schiit stack being much better imo with the stock tube and an electro harmonix gold pin 6sn7. Immaculate amounts of detail very natural sound like you’re present wherever it was recorded. Comes across with a lot going on in the top end without being too much for me even on the brighter ifi stack compared to the new schiit stack. Bass can really get crazy on this thing with eq without loosing any goodness and sounds very natural with stock tuning, if it’s meant to be some hip hop blow your ears off bass that’s what you get and vice versa for more chill drum bass. I don’t have much experience with headphones of this caliber but I can honestly say I’m not sure I’d get anything else other than an lcd-x or super bass focused headphones next of some sort to accent this one well. 10/10 for audio46 9/10 for the headphone Only looses a point cause the stock cable is meh and should be god tier at this price let’s be real. Everything else is flawless with this thing imo.
