Although the soundstage may not be the standout feature of the HE-R10P, it certainly offers clear and spacious imaging with ridiculously accurate left to right placement. The bass frequencies impress with depth and impact, while the midrange, though a little thinned out, offers fantastic clarity. The high end feels smooth and relaxed but still offers a crispness and sparkle to instruments like percussion, brass and funk guitars. And in general, HE-R10P proves to be on of Hifiman’s most solidly built headphones, making it definitely worth trying out if you’re looking for a top-of-the-line planar closed-back option.

• HIFIMAN first developed its closed-back planar headphones in 2012
• After several attempts to develop a closed-back headphone worthy of the HIFIMAN name, the company turned its attention to open-back planar headphones that quickly became some of the most successful products on the market
