Kinera Imperial Baldr ( Baldr 2.0 )

1DD+2BA+4EST

Flagship Configuration and Hall Experience

Break through the structural limit of small cavity. Total 7 units of 1DD&2BA&4 EST drivers are parallel placed in the shell, which combines the electrostatic unit treble ductility and BA high resolution. Dynamic driver offers good and flexible bass, presenting a hall-level auditory experience, even if you wear it for a long time, it is light and comfortable.

Dual Knowles Balanced Armature Drivers

Knowles RAF-32873 composite BA units are used for mid-range. They are connected from low-high frequency by accurate acoustic technology. After tuning, they can not only control the dynamic nature feeling , but also keep the EST unit high-frequency advantages, to ensure the good connection of all frequency.

Sonion High-Frequency Electrostatic Units

The 1X4 Sonion EST65QB02 electrostatic unit is responsible for the high frequency. Electrostatic driver has faster speed, better transient response, stronger detail expression and higher treble extension. It’s perfect to interpret and distort Baldr sound, which is with extremely low distortion, show more realistic sound, bring brighter and warmer listening enjoyment.

Powerful Dynamic Driver Unit for a Realistic and Powerful Lower End

Kinera customized 7mm strong magnetic dynamic driver, with 3 sandwich PU + high poly fiber + titanium-plated composite diaphragm, present more real good sound. The dynamic unit a strong magnetic driver, with N52 high magnetic flux circular magnetic steel. PU mixed material improves the bass dive depth, high-poly fiber achieves wider sound stage and titanium strengthens the resolution, result in rich vocal and flexible bass.

Precise Frequency Division To Provide Distortion-Free Sound

Kinera Baldr has an acoustic three-way design that provides a perfect connection between the different driver units. The pair shows no distortion and provides accurate frequency division of the high, mids, and lows frequency bands. The overall curve connection is smooth.

6N OCC with Gold Plated Cable

Kinera Baldr uses a OCC with gold-plated cable has a mid-to-high frequency direction. With the ingenious combination of OCC and gold materials, the sound is warm and moist while maintaining the high resolution characteristics.

Excellent all-rounder with natural sound

I am not someone who has listened to a hundred different IEMs to compare, but I am an audiophile. I started my journey with some cheap Symphonized XTC. These were made of wood, which is unique. I followed with the Rock Jaw Kommand, a hybrid (1 dynamic, 1 ba), also made of wood. Then I switched to the Fidue A83 and stuck with it for many years. It has a plastic casing. Eventually, I bought some 64Audio Fourté on B-Stock. This ended up being a mistake and highly impulsive. It had insanely good resolution and soundstage, but it needed a very sensitive DAC to not sound very harsh and its tonality was weird. Moreover, I found myself missing the natural sound produced by wooden IEM housing. I ended up selling the Fourté and ordered this after doing some research. The Baldr 2.0 does need a little break-in to get rid of some harshness in the upper-mids. Other than that, these IEMs are amazing: Bass: The bass is very refined and high in resolution. It's also the least bass-heavy audio equipment I've ever heard. If you look at the frequency response graph, it's because it's nearly flat (which is precisely what I was looking for). This is not for bass heads, but it is extremely accurate to the original content. Mids: Very high quality mids, virtually no sibilance. There are a few frequencies that can sound slightly harsh with distorted guitars (such as in metal), but one of the reasons is the detail resolution. The BA mid driver might be the weak point of this (but that's not saying much because of how strong everything else is), and that's only due to tonality being a little less "refined". That's definitely a personal taste though. Highs: So I've always loved electrostatic drivers and how airy and euphoric and free they sound. Listening to the highs on these is like being in literal heaven. Everything is so smooth and silky. But that's not to say there isn't any resolution and detail, which is certainly there also. As much detail as the Fourté? Definitely not. But it's definitely good, much better than anything else I've owned and you won't be disappointed unless you are for some reason coming from something much higher end. The Fourté might just have the best resolution of any IEM, but the trade-off in tuning wasn't worth it for me. Soundstage: Very good, no complaints. Obviously not as good as the Fourté, which again might be the best that has ever been in an IEM, but still excellent. It's really not a fair comparison as those cost more than twice as much, but that's the only reference I have. No point in comparing to my Fidue A83, which is worse in every single way (and it was four times cheaper). Detail: Lots of detail in the lows and mids. Having good resolution in the lows, particularly with a dynamic driver, is typically more rare. The dynamic driver makes it feel natural with the air it moves, but it is definitely fast. The highs sound maybe a little smoothed over, but it could be because they are electrostatic. Maybe they need to be broken in more, and I'll update this review (if possible) after that has been done. It could also be the smoothness making it feel like detail is less. The detail is definitely beter than any other IEMs and again, I am probably unfairly comparing to the Fourté, which has Tia drivers. Tonality: This is what I love about this. The wood encasing gives the sound a more natural "at home" feel. Probably not the right verbiage but I don't really know how to describe it. It's just a more comfortable sound. Pair that with the near flat response and you have a perfect reference pair. I just love wood. The upper mids do come forward a little bit. Snare drums are a little louder than I'd like. Note: Breaking these in really helps.
