United StatesMoondrop Starfield review (compared to Moondrop aria)
Not well versed or experienced in the IEM market, but I have used the Moondrop Aria prior to my Starfield purchase. Many reviews and reviewers stated that the Starfield and the Arias are fairly similar in quality, with a few differences. As such my expectation for same became skewed. My listening experience of the Starfield was slightly disappointed, as I was expecting a better/more pleasurable listening experience for the Arias. This did not appear to be the case. Bass - the bass on the Starfield isn't bad. In fact, the bass details appeared more cleanly on the Starfield over the Arias. However, the Arias have more quantity of bass and a warmer sound and presentation. Most persons would find this more pleasurable and enjoyable. The Arias also have more kick/slam, aka better dynamics in the bass region. Mids - the Starfield performed much better in the mid frequencies compared to the Arias. They are more present/forward and quite clean Highs - the highs on the Starfield are much more sparkly. However the presentation and overall timbre of the starfields appear to be less natural and thus less pleasing to listen to music for me. Soundstage - although iems generally have trouble with this aspect, the Starfields were very small in soundstge. The Arias have a bigger soundstge in comparison. Imaging - the imaging on the starfields is rather precise and quite sharp. Sounds transitioning from left to right and vice versa are very quick and snappy. Better compared to the arias Overall score - I personally will give the starfields a 7.75/10; the overall timbre, smaller stage, less bass and slightly higher price over the Arias leads me slightly disappointed in them. Their sound signature reminds me of the Hifiman sundaras, but with a much smaller stage. Still capable iems, but I personally enjoy the Arias more. If I am to give the Arias a score, I would give the Arias an 8.5/10

This is a great entry level IEM that does everything very well. It probably should be a 5 star or at least a 4.5 in relation to the the price. Fit is good.
