Sennheiser HD 599 High-End Around Ear Headphones-Open Back
It has been an excellent experience. Coming from cheap headphones, the comfort and audio quality are out of this world. Works for long sessions of gaming and music listening to me.
I had always read and heard sennheiser headphones were some of the best sounding, so I decided to purchase the HD 599's based on reviews and recommendations. When they arrived, I was excited to start listening to them so I threw on a Mofi vinyl version of Dire Straits Brothers in Arms. My turntable is an old Harman Kardon belt drive T-60 (which by the way still sounds great) with an AT A7V cartridge utilizing a Graham Slee Gram Amp 2 SE phono preamp. Needless to say I was a little disappointed in the sound. Yes, they sounded good but not great. The soundstage was decent but the vocals, bass, and highs simply did not meet my expectations. At this price I expected audiophile sound and sad to say, they were average sounding. Bass was not clear and tight and sounded a little boomy. The voices were not close to as clear as I expected and the highs were a little better but not impressive. Overall, I was a little disappointed and expected more at this price level. On a positive note, they are some of the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn.
