VE XCON

The VE XCON is inspired by the heritage of the VE6 X-Control and takes sound flexibility and diversity to an entirely new level. While its predecessor was known for being a true all-rounder, this newly developed model pushes the boundaries of adaptability with cutting-edge technology.

At its core lies an innovative magnetic switch, seamlessly integrated inside the earphone, allowing effortless switching between two distinct sound signatures. A complex crossover system enhances the switch’s efficiency, ensuring a more audible difference between sound modes compared to the previous model.

X1 - powerful and engaging

In X1 mode, the VE XCON delivers a strong yet controlled bass with impressive detail, adding weight and impact without losing precision. The mids are rich and vivid, giving instruments and vocals a natural presence, while the treble is crystal clear and brilliant, ensuring a wide and immersive listening experience. X2 - neutral und analytical

Activating X2 mode transforms the VE XCON into a completely different monitor. The bass is reduced to a neutral level, offering an accurate and reference-like response, while the mids take a step back for a more balanced and analytical presentation (-4 dB at 100 Hz downwards and -3dB from 1 kHz to 5 kHz). The highs remain brilliant and clear. This mode is ideal for professionals who need a precise, uncolored sound with a wide and expansive sound stage, allowing critical listening without any tonal coloration.

Magnetic Switch

The innovative Magnetic Switch is a built-in switch on the faceplate of the VE XCON that can be used to safely switch between the two sound profiles: with the magnet inserted, you get the X1 profile, without the magnet the X2 profile.

By switching from X1 to X2, the Magnetic Switch simultaneously reduces -4 dB from 100 Hz downwards and -3 dB from 1 kHz to 5 kHz.

The magnets can be easily removed using a tool supplied and safely stored in an included case. Compared to the toggle switch of its predecessor, the Magnetic Switch is much more robust and secure to withstand the roughest touring conditions.

We recommend not changing the magnets “on the fly”, e.g. between two songs during a concert. Instead, the switch is designed to enable versatile use of an In-Ear with two sound profiles for different settings or applications and to change the magnets accordingly before use.

Technical insights

It is not only its finely tuned BA driver system that makes the VE XCON an exceptional model. In particular, the complex crossover system and the innovative Magnetic Switch give the VE XCON its exceptional sonic flexibility and variety.

In-ears use different driver technologies to produce sound. Two of the most common types are balanced armature drivers (BA) and dynamic drivers (DD). Both have their own strengths and sound different depending on the intended use and sound design.

BA drivers are compact, precise drivers that are particularly efficient at reproducing certain frequency ranges clearly and with great detail. They are therefore often used in multi-way driver setups, where one or more BA drivers are specialized for a specific frequency range (e.g. highs, mids or lows).

The 6 drivers of the VE XCON are controlled by a complex 4-way crossover. The Magnetic Switch allows you to switch between two different sound profiles, offering two earphones in one housing.  

To get the most out of its performance, the VE XCON makes use of various other technologies:

• Most of the BA drivers in the VE XCON are used as dual-chamber drivers and therefore work with two chambers to deliver even more power.
• To ensure that the low frequencies can be reproduced even more precisely, the dual-chamber drivers in the VE XCON work with so-called backventings. This small opening in the otherwise closed housing of the driver gives the driver an additional resonance chamber, allowing even lower frequencies to be reproduced.
