Open-ear true wireless earphones are becoming a standard for athletes seeking high-quality sound that can keep pace with their workouts. Beyerdynamic is no stranger to the open-ear true wireless earphone. Their latest upgrade, the AMIRON 200, shows off new and improved sound with a better fit than its predecessor. This review delves into the details and features of this upgraded earphone.
WHAT COMES IN THE BOX
Beyerdynamic keeps things relatively simple when it comes to their included features. The great thing about the open-ear design is that the AMIRON 200 doesn't come with any eartips, so it has fewer parts to keep track of. In the box, you'll find the following:
- AMIRON 200 earphones
- USB-C charging cable
- Charging case
DESIGN & BUILD QUALITY
If you're unfamiliar with open-ear earphones, wearing the AMIRON 200 for the first time may feel a little strange. The earphone hooks over your ear to rest right on top of your ear as opposed to going in, so you have no sound isolation. The AMIRON 200 has an ergonomic shape that subtly melds to the inside of your ear, so you have a guide as to where it should rest. It's helpful as a guide and also increases the comfort of the earphones. The top of the earhook is also very flexible and can bend to fit onto any ear.
If you're looking for true wireless with noise cancellation, the AMIRON 200 isn't it; this is meant to help you be more aware of your surroundings in any environment. That means you get a bit of sound bleed in both directions while using.
Pairing the AMIRON 200 and connecting to the Beyerdynamic app was quick and easy. In the app, you can customize your sound with EQ filters, both preset and custom ones you can make yourself. The touch controls on the side are fairly sensitive, and you can change what each side allows you to do. This customization allows you to really get the sound you want and listen in a way that is ideal for whatever your style is; there is no compromising in sound or style. The AMIRON 200's flexibility in sound and control make it a step above the rest in open-ear options.

LISTENING REVIEW
SOUNDSTAGE & IMAGING
When listening to the AMIRON 200, I was immediately swept away by the wide soundstage. Because of the open-ear design, it feels like you're wearing an open-back headphone. Most other true wireless earphones have a narrow soundstage that sounds closed-in and slightly compressed. The AMIRON 200 is quite the opposite. You get a very wide, spatial listening stage that you can completely immerse yourself in. Decent height and depth are coming from the layers of sound, so it's like you are standing in the middle of your music while you listen.
The overall sound signature of these earphones is balanced but fun. There is a lot of space you get out of these earphones, and the frequencies fall into this space evenly and with great clarity. You get a bit of a boost in the bass, but it's subtle just to make up for the open sound that favors the treble. You don't hear a lot of separation amongst instruments, but there is decent clarity that allows you to pick apart individual instruments with ease.
BASS FREQUENCIES
Bass is something that Beyerdynamic does extremely well. In their headphones and earphones, I have never been disappointed by the bass response. This pattern holds true in the AMIRON 200. This open-ear earphone has a strong bass that is punchy and rich in detail. Even in genres where the bass would take a backseat, there is a solid foundation in the bass to make every track enjoyable to listen to. On top of it being very present, it is also full of detail and texture. I was thoroughly impressed with the smoothness and textural detail coming through for low-end percussion and tonal bass guitars. For a style of earphones that favors treble frequencies, Beyerdynamic's AMIRON 200 makes sure the bass comes through with ease.
MIDRANGE FREQUENCIES
The midrange comes forward in the AMIRON 200 to highlight vocals and all the memorable melodies of your favorite tracks. You are sure to catch all the midrange detail with these earphones. The depth of the soundstage comes through most notably in this range. The way sound wraps around you to make you immersed in your listening is most apparent in the midrange. There is excellent clarity to make instruments stand out, and you're able to pinpoint their individual timbres with ease. I like the vocal responses the best, which come right to the front like there is someone singing right in front of you. It's easy to get lost in your listening in this range, and with how loud the AMIRON 200 can get, it certainly makes for a more interactive listening experience.
TREBLE FREQUENCIES
The top end brings the entire signature to an excellent balance. The treble comes in to balance out the strong bass response and highlight the clarity in each range. The AMIRON 200 does not get harsh or too sharp, and instead leans more into the smoothness when it transitions from midrange to treble. The top end also opens up the entire signature to make everything feel uncompressed. Frequencies can naturally dissipate outwards, cutting off in the ambient sound that comes in from the open-ear design. It makes it easy to wear the AMIRON 200 for long periods of time, where you don't get fatigued by harsh treble or boxed-in frequencies.
FINAL THOUGHTS
The AMIRON 200 is another great product from Beyerdynamic. This open-ear true wireless listening experience really caters to people who want great sound on the go. Athletes will be impressed by the lightweight design and how well they can move without the AMIRON 200 falling off. These earphones are for people who value safety while working out but still need stellar sound quality, so you don't have to compromise to get the best of both worlds.
If you're looking for something with active noise cancelling or isolation from outside sound, the AMIRON 200 likely is not for you; however, I would definitely try it out to see if it sways your preference on sound quality alone. The AMIRON 200 will impress with its clean sound and loud response.
