For convenience the ear buds also have a shirt clip which is held by the battery compartment that doubles up as a switch for the Noise Guard switch.

The battery housing is a splendid piece whenever you want to control the music player, with a volume control nested on the front. On the side are two buttons that switch easily between the three modes of noise cancellation based on the location or environment.

The first mode is optimized for use on-the-move, for instance, when you have to work or sit in loud environments for a long time. An intricate balance between low and mid frequency ranges with an average active noise cancellation of -15dB. The second mode for the Sennheiser CXC 700 is optimized for air conditioned rooms and long-haul flights with a focus on sound in the mid frequency range. The active noise cancellation is -15dB. Finally, the third mode which is optimized for commuting environments on land and in the air is optimized for low frequency sounds with active noise cancellation levels of -23dB.
