I’ve never heard a Final Audio headphone that I didn’t like. So, I don’t expect anything to go wrong here in comparing these two brand new models. The E4000 is a lot cheaper than the E5000. FIT and DESIGN – Final Audio E4000 vs Final Audio E5000 In-Ear Headphones Review

I love the simplicity of Final Audio’s in-ear headphone line. No annoying over ear wire. No bulkiness. Just good sound and minimalist design. However, I should mention that if you have unusually wide ear canals, you might run into problems because the ear tip diameter is rather narrow. But for all you folks with normal ears, these should work fine. Of course, the E5000 looks cooler with its stainless steel design. The circumference is also a bit wider.

Lows

The bass on the E5000 is deeper than that of the E4000. But that doesn’t mean it’s necessarily better. Listening to pop, I found the E5000 to be very fat and subby. The E4000 also has a deep bass, but it’s dryer, clearer and feels like it has more grip. Still, if you’re a bass head, you’ll probably prefer the E5000.

Mids

The E5000 focuses on the lower mids, while the E4000 slightly emphasizes the higher midrange. However, I didn’t sense too much harshness on the E4000, which is impressive for a headphone with a high midrange extension. I will say that the E5000 sounds fuller and presents more detail. It also has a rounder, smoother feel. I think I preferred the E5000 when listening to rock. But that’s because I’m a sucker for those low mids.

Highs

Listening to high strings, the softness and ease of the E5000 was a more pleasant experience. The E4000 lacked that grace and refinement. The E5000 is certainly a more coherent sound.  That being said, I didn’t feel any piercing highs or sibilance on the E4000. Still, if you’re listening to jazz or classical, you’ll probably prefer the roundness of the E5000.

Soundstage

No surprise here. The E5000 has a wider soundstage. Neither headphones had a huge amount of depth.

Writing this review felt like comparing apples to oranges. These two headphones have very different sound profiles. But you also get what you pay for. The E5000 is fuller, rounder, more detailed, and has a deeper bass. At the same time, the E4000 is no slouch, and I think it gives you more bang for your buck. But both are a decent listening experience. Can’t go wrong.
